one thousand and one reasons to leave your city – #4
your city hates you! poisoning your mind! killing you slowly!
you get hit by a car, the tram, the bus, the train or the bandit you fear so much.
the people pollute the people.
and you’re still not running away…
sometimes the way out of town is long, but convenient. Medellín is a great example of how to connect packed hillside neighbourhoods to an extensive, green, national park. ‘parqe Arví’ is an ecological nature preserve on the eastern slopes of Aburrá Valley in Colombia, accessible over the metro cable (cableway). floating over some of the poorest neighbourhoods of the town, you can enjoy the wonderful view, before paying for another ticket (many locals can not afford) to get lost in a dreamy, half fortified natural theme park.
grab a hot dog, buy some souvenirs, jump off a cliff, dive… it’s a nice place – just not for everyone.
